About
The openSenseMap is probably the largest open platform for environmental and sensor data worldwide. It is available to everyone to access extensive data free of charge, to analyze it and to publish their own measurements. This has created a unique dataset with real-time data all over the world, providing verifiable local as well as global facts on environmental phenomena such as climate change.
Smart cities and citizen science
Cities and municipalities run Smart City applications with openSenseMap.org, through which citizens can comprehensively inform themselves and participate. Dashboards are used to publish useful real-time information online, and Citizen Scientists measure air quality at selected locations, for example. This makes an important contribution to environmental protection and to improving the quality of life.
How can I contribute?
If you operate your own sensor that measures environmental data of any kind, you’ve come to the right place: You can upload your measurement data using the API of the openSenseMap. The openSenseMap is open to a wide variety of sensors, including the senseBox developed at the University of Münster.
