Smart City

About

The smart city model is a 2 2 meters large model of a city with streets, houses, traffic lights and parking lots. It is equiped with a sensors to detect changes in the environment. It is interactive, i.e. visitors can change illumination, sound leve and drive around with cars.

Sensors

Our city has a smart lighting system in which the illumination is measured by a light sensor and the street lighting is automatically switched on as soon as it is too dark. Our intelligent parking guidance system uses an infrared sensor to detect whether the disabled parking space is occupied. To ensure that there is always a disabled parking space available, we dynamically designate a new disabled parking space once the old one is occupied. An infrared sensor counting the traffic completes our intelligent traffic monitoring.

Visualization of spatio-temoral distribution.

We have three measurement stations distributed across different locations in our city model to detect noise and temperature. Visitors can create noise and high temperature with bell and a hair-dryer in different locations of our city. The spatio-temporal distribution of noise and temperature in the city model is visualized on a map.
